As we try to envisage what air threats we might face in 2040, one thing is certain: maintaining technological supremacy through defense innovation, is a strategic necessity for supremacy of our Air power and dominance in airspace. It is therefore a key consideration within the long-term assessment of the Capabilities Development Plans (CDPs). This long-term strand identifies future strategic factors, related future capability requirements, technological challenges, and opportunities to be considered.
The CDP’s Long-Term Capability Assessment of the modern Air Power explores the future capability trends and assesses the standard military tasks over a timeline of 20 years or more years’ timeframe. The aim is to provide States’ armed Air forces with a wide span of possible factors that may impact future National Air – Space Power1 (capability requirements) from 2040 and beyond.
